This will be a momentous evening - the inaugural concert of a new quartet formed by Rafael Todes, formerly of the Allegri Quartet, which disbanded post covid, His aim: to recreate the superb and charismatic performances for which the Allegri were known. Top class musicianship is a given, but the right chemistry between the players is vital as well, to add that extra pazzazz for players and audience. Rafael reckons he has found it.

Violist Graham Oppenheimer has played with Rafael in the Schidlof Quartet, and cellist Kirsten Jenson has deputised on cello with the Allegri in recent years. Ben Nabarro, guest first violin for the evening, plays with the acclaimed Nash Ensemble. A stellar line-up.

This evening's historic concert could herald the start of a New Allegri era. Don't miss it.
