Songbird Strings of Texas hails from the famously musical city of Austin, Texas. Representing the Songbird Rising Suzuki School and honoring a combined 100+ years of dedicated study, our students are excited to showcase their hard work with a program of classical, fiddle, and popular music. Aged from 7 to 16, these impressive young students are sure to wow with a musicality that defies their age.

The ensemble’s story is told in the school's ideals: Growth, Joy, and Community, and by a long held dream of director, Laura Poyzer to return to her homeland with her students. Across Edinburgh, Chester, Bristol, Bath, and London, our performance celebrates friendship, fun, and enthusiasm for new experiences. The tour is an incredible opportunity for our student's growth as musicians and as people. We welcome you to join us, enjoy our performance, and become a part of what is sure to be one of the most formative and memorable experiences of these young musicians' lives.

Laura Poyzer is a passionate music teacher and school director. An education in performance and pedagogy, spanning Wales and Austin, Texas, set the stage for the founding of Songbird Rising Suzuki School. For over a decade, Laura has guided hundreds of students in Austin, TX, on their musical journeys.

The students are trained using the Suzuki method. This teaching philosophy enables very young children to learn music in the same way as they learn a language. Therefore all very young children should be able to play music with skill and competence.
