Villiers Quartet: Late Beethoven Series IV

This is the fourth concert in the Villiers Quartet’s highly-acclaimed series at the JdP Music Building, where Beethoven’s late string quartets are paired with the music of twentieth-century women composers. Here the warmth of Op. 127 is offset by the magical sounds and intensity of the first string quartet by Priaulx Rainier from 1939, an outstanding piece championed after the Second World War by the Amadeus Quartet.
