Following their successful productions in 2021 and 2022, The Opera Company and Saraband return with an exploration of 18th century French music that promises to be an evocative and immersive experience. This performance dives into the world of early 18th century French salons, where composers experimented with dramatic scenes in intimate settings before presenting full scale operas to larger audiences.

Guido Martin-Brandis stages the evening, presenting several cantatas as the miniature operas they truly are. With instrumental pieces threading the narrative together, audiences will be transported from heart-wrenching tales of love and loss to the simple, faithful love found in Rameau’s Le berger fidèle.
