The award winning Kleio Quartet presents a dynamic programme of contrasts. The heart of the programme is Wynton Marsalis’ ‘At the Octoroon Balls’, a fusion of jazz and classical chamber music.

Kleio Quartet write:

“We were drawn to the idea that we could deepen our relationship with rhythm and time, immerse ourselves in his richly embroidered textures of sound, experiment with improvisation and freedom within the structure of the piece and the structure of the quartet, and finally have the opportunity to work with the composer himself.”

Britten’s vibrant Three Divertimenti follows with energetic character studies, before closing with exquisite, probing and ultimately life-affirming Second String Quartet.

“A wonderfully dedicated group of musicians who bring assuredness and freshness to everything they play” – Alina Ibragimova
